"I told her to take a selfie" Class with CodyDay 7 = Letter "E"
Cody and Jared met in August of 2015–where Jared as a Dgroup leader, helped incoming freshman move in to their new CCU apartments. This was a momentus day because Cody showed up in his lowered, modified, stripped “race car” with “Type-R” emblems — an immediate eye catch for other car guys. Since then Cody & Jared have become closer working on podcasting and even traveling to the Bahamas for a mission trip. Cody Huynh, an Operation Team Leader, surprised Daesha with the next “special delivery” flower+E on Wednesday Dec. 6th during class. He delivered it in an exuberant manner which put a big smile on Daesha’s face. She said he was “hilarious.” But amidst the excitement, he forgot to get a picture. Fortunately, Daesha sent this selfie later on with his very large “E” note. Thanks Cody! Daesha has guessed that the first word is “Icecream.” I neither confirmed nor denied that this was the case. Nevertheless, she is excited as this is an “inside joke” in our relationship that refers back to the very first time I asked her to hang out and get Ben & Jerry’s icecream.

Intramural Surprise Can't Dodge the FlowersDay 6 = Letter "R"
One of Daesha’s favorite things in the world is dodgeball. Few things get her more amped than the opportunity to hurl foam spheres at high speeds at other people. She is quite good, and certainly does not “throw like a girl.” — A force to be reckoned with, she often throws harder than the guys on her team. Nevertheless, Sam Bult, one of Jared’s club volleyball teammates, skiier bros, and global studies classmates at CCU, threw her a flower she couldn’t “dodge.” Another rose+note was successfully delivered on Dec 5th at 9pm to Daesha at Intramural Dodgeball in CCU’s event center. "She ditched me" Missing in ActionDay 5 = Letter "C"
Kelsey Cook, skiier extraordinaire and friend of Jared since the Weekend of Welcome before freshman year!, was supposed to meet Daesha for housing details—she will be moving in to Daesha’s apartment next month—but Daesha was MIA. Nevertheless, Kelsey managed to take a photo with her—a memory of our first major evening out to Denver Zoo Loghts (Dec 15, 2017). Daesha found the flower with note when she arrived back home later and said “I don’t know how you are doing it but I found another flower in my room tonight!” Thanks for the delivery Kelsey! She was sleeping #SneakySmileDay 4 = Letter "E"
James Crabb, one of Jared’s CCU buddies, had the difficult task of surprising Daesha on her busiest day of the week—Sunday. On Sunday’s, Daesha is usually up before the sunrise to help set up and prepare for services at Lighthouse Church. She leads worship at the 9am and 10:45am services and afterwords cleans up, visits with staff, and usually takes a nap. This is followed by homework, intramurals, and weekly food prep. In short, Sunday’s she is all over the place. James attempted to surprise her around dinner time but instead caught her mid-nap. #sneakysmile He left the flower and note by her bedside and Daesha woke up to another surprise. You guys should see the new smile she has each time we facetime. Keeps getting bigger and bigger. "Fixed It" Granted a FlowerDay 3 = Letter "C"
Ethan Grant, another one of Jared’s good college buddies (throwback to camping and also Crested Butte Ski Trip) surprised Daesha at her apartment with another flower+note. Today’s letter was “C” Daesha immediately texted me “BBAABBEEE WHAT THE HECK ANOTHER FLOWER!! ♥♥♥♥” You could say the Day 2 delivery was quite the success. The one minor hicup was...Ethan forgot to join Daesha in the photo. Good news is, he “fixed it” with the funny photoshop edit above. Thanks Ethan! Side Note — Today was more difficult planning wise as Daesha’s schedule was up in the air. She went home to visit with family and also tour two wedding venues with her mom. She returned to Lakewood later than expected but thanks to intel from Life360 and Carly we knew of her arrival and Ethan totally surprised her. Daesha will likely begin expecting flowers, so we will need to become more creative in the delivery method over time. Fortunately, the Shire guys may have a tuba surprise. Davies DinnerDay 2 = Letter "I"
Peter Davies, Jared’s best bro through college, was in town for a special visit after successfully completing his first semester at Southern Theological Seminary. He and a group of mutual friends asked Daesha to dinner, and met her with a surprise flower + note with the letter “I”. Daesha didn’t see it coming, and as you can see by the smile on her face, was quite excited about what this might mean. New Intel — Before dinner I invited Daesha to join Life360 a location sharing app my family uses to keep in touch. I told her my family would love to have her in our “life360” circle. She has signed up.. This is great news, agents — we will always know where she is! Good job on a successful delivery, agent Peter. We wish you luck in your next semester at Southern. "Her Face is Stuck" Operation Roy UnderwayDay 1 = The Launch
Special Agent, Anna Martch, also known as Daesha’s sister, successfully delivered the first package. A bouquet of roses with a formal letter from Jared. The two met for Coffee at 8:30pm. Anna took this picture of Daesha enjoying her first flower (although this ONE was actually many). As usual, Daesha could not stop smelling the flowers—except to come up for air when they got McDonald’s fries afterwards (Daesha’s fave). |
